Hey, thanks for stopping by; come on in and have a seat! Can I get you anything…coffee, tea, wine, a wee dram of some single malt whisky??
So what is it you’d like to know? Well first off, as you can see by the title of my blog, I’m an American who is now living in the beautiful south east of England. Originally from Long Island, NY, my family and I moved out to a suburb of Philadelphia, PA when I was 14.
I learned to cook from mom who always made sure I was in the kitchen with her when she was cooking or baking. I am now a certified housewife and have really gotten into cooking more than when I was still living in the US and working, probably because I simply have more time to concentrate on it. I’m not Julia Child or Delia Smith by any means, but I think I can whip up some decent food. Let’s put it this way: no one has died from eating my food!
Being married to a Brit, I started learning about the different culture of food here and some of the different foods, one of then being chutney. My mother-in-law had given me my first preserves cookbook so I made my first chutney from scratch and has snowballed every since; however, the snowball is going up! I now make various chutneys, jams, jellies, marmalade, relish and even mustards which I sell monthly at one of the local farmer’s markets.
About a year ago, I decided to start a blog and already knew that it would focus on food, recipes, cooking and anything and everything that goes on in my kitchen. I also try to focus a bit on some healthy eating as I am an avid follower of the South Beach Diet. I’ve had my ups and downs on the diet, but then who hasn’t?
I try to write about things that hopefully are of interest to foodie-type people and my blog is not just recipes. Not that there’s anything wrong with bloggers who post recipes each day, but it’s not my way. As a Gemini, I get bored with the same thing day in and day out.
I hope you liked my little rant about my blog and myself and hope that you enjoy what you read. Please feel free to comment as it’s always interesting to see what other people think about what you write.
